German tuner ABT Sportsline has elaborated a power kit for the Audi RS3 Sportback. That makes me wonder what the answer of Quattro GmbH will be related to Donkervoort’s evolution.
The RS3 recently lost the power hatch crown as Mercedes-Benz bumped the A45 AMG’s output to 381 PS, thus dethroning the 367 PS Sportback. However, ABT now has a fix for that as they worked on the 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and managed to squeeze a total of 430 PS (316 kW) while torque has risen from the series 465 Nm (343 lb-ft) to a massive 530 Nm (391 lb-ft).
Thanks to the extra punch, the RS3 will be able to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in 4.1 seconds which makes it 0.2s quicker than the stock model. Consequently, the top speed has been increased from the electronically-limited 155 mph (250 km/h) to 177 mph (285 km/h).
The Donkervoort Performance models officially manages to deliver 380 HP (which actually is 400) and 450 Nm of torque. The chassis of the GTO can easily cope with more horsepower. The current GTO turbo thermal heat is the limiting factor.
So, in general we would not be surprised if Donkervoort would create a much more powerful evolution version than the current Performance range.
The D8 GTO XTreme or something equivalent, with much much more than 450 BHP…
I would welcome some more punch! A bit like the jump from the “old” 210 to the 270 version. 814 BHP is possible. It has been done. Watch the video.
