Fluidfilm for your chassis

In our most recent Donkervoort club magazine (Issue 3, Sept ’15), there was a picture of the 2nd Donkervoort ever made, the JD002. Chassis are powder coated from the outside, but can rust from the inside caused by water vapor as a result of temperature differences. This can be prevented by using Fluid Film, which I used on some parts of my previous Donkervoorts (S8, D8, D8 270) and now on my GTO chassis to prevent this.

The destructive force of corrosion is the single greatest threat to your Donkervoort.

Consistent exposure to a wide range of elements such rain, can lead to rapid deterioration of metal, not only resulting in poor appearance and loss of value, but hazardous safety issues as well.

Road salt and debris also kick up, eating away at metal and electrical connections.

FLUID FILM is manufactured using an intricate heating and blending process, which combines unrefined woolwax with selective polar agents and corrosion inhibitors, creating a unique, lanolin-based formulation that stops existing rust on contact.

Penetrating on contact, it creates a fluid, self-healing barrier that is always active and will not chip or crack, protecting vehicle undercoating’s and exposed metals for extended periods of time. Safe for use on all metals, it will stop pitting in chrome, will not harm most paints or plastic, and has exceptional lubricating properties, penetrating to stop squeaks and provide lasting lubricity for all moving parts. Electrically non conductive, FLUID FILM has a high flash point and a thin, flexible composition, making it a perfect protectant for the hollow parts of your chassis.

For some parts a endoscope could be useful.

FLUID FILM is a penetrant and lubricant also used for corrosion prevention. It is a non-toxic, long lasting, thixotropic liquid that has been used for over fifty years in the highly corrosive marine environment of ships and offshore drilling rigs. More recently they have been introduced and successfully utilized in the aerospace, aircraft and automobile industries as well as for home maintenance. Facilities where they are used include the following: government facilities, commercial fishing concerns, gas companies, agriculture, salt plants, municipal plants, power plants, manufacturing plants and pulp and paper mills.

FLUID FILM is formulated from specially processed wool-wax, highly refined petroleum oils and selected agents to provide corrosion control, penetration, metal wetting and water displacement. The long lasting product contains no solvents, will not dry out and will penetrate to the base of all metals, providing corrosion protection from both natural and industrial atmospheres. Heavily corroded and/or frozen parts such as nuts, bolts, shafts, etc. that would normally be damaged during maintenance, can be salvaged by applying FLUID FILM.
